Cyclist gets 2-year suspension after testing positive for banned substance
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado: Jared Bunde has been suspended from the sport of cycling for two years after a failed doping test.
Bunde, 31, tested positive for clomiphene on July 28 at the Point Premium Root Beer International Cycling Classic, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Tuesday.
Agency officials said clomiphene is an anti-estrogenic substance that is prohibited under the rules of USADA and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), cycling's international federation.
Bunde accepted the suspension on Oct. 15, the starting date for his two-year ineligibility. His competitive results earned on and after July 28 are disqualified, and he forfeits any medals, points and prizes, USADA said.
USA Cycling, the national governing body in the United States, will carry out the sanction.
