Mike Tyson reports to jail to serve 1-day sentence
PHOENIX: Mike Tyson reported to jail Tuesday to serve his one-day sentence for a DUI conviction.
The former heavyweight champion will be at Tent City, an open-air jail near a dog pound and junk yard.
Tyson pleaded guilty in September to one count of felony cocaine possession and one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.

Thuram hopes to postpone international retirement with France until 2010
CLAIREFONTAINE, France: Lilian Thuram is hoping to continue playing with France through the 2010 World Cup.
The 35-year-old defender will play in his seventh major tournament with France if selected for next year's European Championship. He won the World Cup in 1998 and the continental title in 2000.
“If I find the resources, then a participation at the 2010 World Cup cannot be ruled out,” Thuram said Tuesday.

Adriano denies drinking problem, wants return to Brazil’s national team
SAO PAULO, Brazil: Inter Milan striker Adriano on Tuesday denied having drinking problems and said he is confident he will overcome his recent struggles and return to Brazil's national team in the future.
Adriano arrived in Brazil last week to undergo physical training and psychological treatment with Brazilian national champion Sao Paulo until the end of the year.
The striker acknowledged he is going through a difficult time but rejected accusations and rumors about drinking problems.
“It's not like people say,” Adriano said in a news conference in Sao Paulo.

Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton appears in court charged with assaulting former teammate
MANCHESTER, England: Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton appeared in court Tuesday charged with assaulting former Manchester City teammate Ousmane Dabo.
The 25-year-old Barton pleaded not guilty at the Manchester court, and will go to trial no earlier than June 30. That is after the European Championship, which Barton could play in if England qualifies and selects him.
“I realize it seems a long way away,” prosecutor Richard Varden said.
Roddick to lead United States against Russia in Davis Cup final
LONDON: Andy Roddick will lead the United States against defending champion Russia in the Davis Cup final.
The sixth-ranked Roddick, who has never won a Davis Cup title, was selected along with No. 13 James Blake and the top-ranked doubles pair of Bob and Mike Bryan. The best-of-five series will be played Nov. 30-Dec.

Italian syndicate Mascalzone Latino to challenge for America’s Cup
MILAN, Italy: Italian syndicate Mascalzone Latino will race in the 33rd America's Cup.
Mascalzone Latino launched its bid out of the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia to compete in the next edition, to be sailed in Valencia in 2009, the team said Tuesday in a statement.
Mascalzone Latino, which finished sixth in the last race, is the sixth team to challenge two-time defending champion Alinghi.

Bayern to let French defender Ismael leave
MUNICH, Germany: Bayern Munich will release defender Valerien Ismael during the winter transfer period if the Frenchman finds another club.
The 32-year-old central defender returned recently after missing 18 months with knee and other injuries but has not gained a spot in Bayern's top squad.
“If he finds a new club, he can go,” general manager Uli Hoeness said Tuesday.
Hoeness also confirmed that Bayern was interested in Breno, an 18-year-old defender from Sao Paulo.
